SHUTTLE STOP PROJECT

BACKGROUND I DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS I GET INVOLVED

Background:
The idea of the Sustainable Shuttle Stop was originated by a group of ESW students during the 2006 winter quarter, during which time the initial design was developed. This design incorporated various environmentally benign building materials into an aesthetically appealing structure. The initial shelter design was submitted at the end of the 05/06 academic year.

Modifications were made following recommendations from the Facilities Management staff (FM). These modifications were incorporated into the second version of the Sustainable Shuttle Stop by a group of independent study students during the 2006 fall quarter. This design has been submitted to the FM and is awaiting approval from the committee.

Design Highlights:

- Recycled plastic paneling
- Recycled plastic lumber bench
- Recycled steel framing
- Fly-ash concrete foundation
- Solar powered lighting
