"The Biomedical Engineering Society at Northwestern University promotes the increase of biomedical engineering knowledge and its utilization within and around the Northwestern community."

The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) was incorporated as a non-profit organization on February 1, 1968 in response to a need to give equal representation to both biomedical and engineering interests. The purpose of the Society is to promote the increase of biomedical engineering knowledge and its utilization.

Northwestern undergraduates interested in biomedical engineering affiliated with the national professional society, Biomedical Engineering Society.

The Biomedical Engineering Society here at Northwestern University aims to guide new students through their BME coursework and help upper-class students seek employment or admission to to graduate school. BMES at Northwestern also wishes to promote independent thought about the current challenges and advancements in the field by inviting experts to speak about their contributions to biomedical engineering.

BMES social events allow BME students to become better acquainted with the many biomedical engineers and biomedical engineering students within Northwestern University.
