The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a nationally recognized professional, educational, non-profit, and service organization dedicated to promoting interest in and encouraging women to pursue the fields of science and engineering.

Career Day For Girls (CDFG) is a one-day program designed for female junior high and high school students who have an interest in science and mathematics. The program features a day of teamwork building and problem-solving activities as well as lectures and discussions lead by Northwestern University engineers. The program will contain educational and career information about opportunities in engineering and applied science. Our speakers are women who have engineering degrees and current female engineering students. It is our hope that students with an interest in science and/or mathematics will plan to attend, along with their parents, friends, teachers and counselors.

Event Details

We would like to invite all female junior and high school students who are interested to attend our 37th annual CAREER DAY FOR GIRLS, scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2008. The theme of this one-day program is: Engineering: Preserving Your Future Through Design.

It is our hope that students with an interest in science and/or mathematics will plan to attend, along with their parents, friends, teachers and counselors. There is a $5.00 registration fee that covers printed materials and lunch. We do, however, encourage you to nominate any students who might find the cost prohibitive for a fee-waiver -- we want every student interested to be able to attend.

You can download a registration form here. We ask that each person attending Career Day include a registration form with their $5.00 registration fee. Unless prior arrangements have been made, each person attending Career Day (including teachers, parents or counselors) must send in a registration form and pay the $5.00 fee for lunch.

Participants can send check or money order payable to Northwestern University to:
